GOHOUBI ISLAND GUAM

Website

Inviting new visitor segment to Guam
Though Guam has been a very popular resort destination for Japanese families, there have not been many female travellers in their 20′s and 30′s. This is an online promotion advertisement targeting those women to tell how attractive the place is.

Gohoubi concept
Female in their 20′s and 30′s are living their life to the fullest either working at an office or home. The concept is to give them Gohoubi (meaning ‘treat’ or ‘reward’ in Japanese) from Guam.

Collect Gohoubi by exploring new aspects of Guam.
When a website visitor views over 500 photos online, the official island bird. Coco Bird. flies in and drops stars. With a click, the stars change to Gohuobi items. The website is carefully developed so that every visitor would be exposed to fascinating aspects of Guam whether they were staying at the website to enjoy a photo tour or simply there to receive Gohoubi.

Over 14,000 Gohoubi items provided from all around the island
Gohoubi ranges from interesting facts about Guam to a roundtrip airline ticket to the island. A number of Gohoubi items were donated by the local stores and individuals who strongly supported the idea and the amount of Gohoubi increased from 300 to over 14,000 including a ‘lunch with the Governor of Guam’.

More Guam visitors
Though visitors from Japan never increased compared to the previous year for long time, the number of Japanese travellers picked up right after the promotion rollout.
